healthy foods

Which foods should you stock in your pantry? Maybe it needs a little make-over to ensure it’s belly friendly.

In the program we’ll debunk some myths of frequently eaten and supposedly healthy foods commonly stocked in kitchens.

– Where do you buy your fresh fruits and vegetables?

– Do you know where they come from?

– What do you know about organic foods?

– Are they really that much better?

At For Life Retreats we answer these questions and many more. Our excursions include taking you to local Farmers Markets where you will meet the growers and taste the difference. We’ll show you where the food you eat actually comes from and how it can best nourish your body.

Curious to know where your food comes from and the difference a few simple choices around food sourcing can make to your health? See for yourself: check out what the Mullumbimby Markets community is all about in the video below.

Looking beyond food, we will cover other factors that contribute to your overall health.

What about the beauty and cleaning products you use everyday on the biggest organ of your body: your skin?

According to the David Suzuki Foundation, U.S. Researchers report that 1 in 8 of the 82,000 ingredients used in personal care products are industrial chemicals, including carcinogens, pesticides, reproductive toxins, and hormone disruptors. (David Suzuki Foundation, Dirty Dozen Chemicals To Avoid)

Have you wondered what is actually in your shampoo, body lotion or face wash?

Which is the best laundry detergent to use to prevent skin allergies and avoid other health problems?

We will run through commonly-found toxic substances and explain why it could be time to update some of your products to save you and your family from possible disease and illness. And of course – take care of our planet.

Other parts of our retreat activity program go a little more internal.

When looking at overall health we need to also look at our emotional state of being. The way we manage our stress really matters to our health.

Our retreat aim is to motivate you to look at your lifestyle, your challenges and the fears to move beyond, and to inspire you to make some long-lasting changes to your health and well being. Through some reflective exercises, breathing techniques and meditation we will take you on an inner journey to make sure you get the most out of your retreat experience.

As Chris Kresser, M.S., L.A.C, mentions, Mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques have been shown to improve gut function and reduce negative gut symptoms. (The Paleo Cure).

Let’s now take a look at the For Life Retreats movement program.
